I always found STEM subjects scary. Yet every time I actually learned one, I was surprised by how easy they turned out to be. By my second year of university, I realized the difficulty had mostly been an illusion. STEM concepts aren’t inherently hard. They just need someone who understands them deeply enough to reveal the intuition.
Engineering Dynamics was one of the most feared courses in our second-year mechanical engineering curriculum. But by then, I no longer believed subjects were hard. If Dynamics felt difficult, I assumed the problem wasn’t the subject, it was how it was being taught. I couldn’t find a course that explained it the way I thought it should be explained, so during the COVID lockdown I recorded and published 21 lectures in Turkish in a single month.

It worked. I received thank-you messages from students all over Türkiye, and some became friends. The message I heard over and over was exactly what I had hoped for: “I didn’t know these things were so easy to learn.”
After the Dynamics series, I used the same “it’s actually easy” approach to explain integrals in a video called İntegral Nasıl Çalışır? (“How Do Integrals Work?”). It became my most-watched video, with views.
